ive not hear Hunky Dory,ever!
listened to the Bowie link and the Seal cover..prefer Seal's version on a one-off listen.
i was never a big fan of Bowie's albums, always thought of him as more of a 'singles' artist...
off the top of my head, the albums of his i like are "ziggy stardust", "lodger", "lets dance" and his latest effort "the next day", that said, "the next day" took me about a year to appreciate fully.
Sealâs rendition is super smooth! And Iâll bet you DO know it â or at least some of it - âCh ch ch ch Changesâ? âLife on Marsâ? Youâll notice it popping up all over the place now, of course! The album is worth a listen in its entirety IMO â itâs the precursor to Ziggy Stardust.
Low is another one I like that flies largely under the regular radar ⦠itâs arty and experimental and it goes quite deep. The second half is almost fully instrumental, and âWarszawaâ, written jointly with Brian Eno, is gorgeous, to me, but as everyone knows, musical tastes differ vastly!
The Next Day demands attention, for sure â still havenât listened to it thoroughly yet, and thereâs no other way to do it! Half an ear just wonât work.
