"Fun" bands--an ongoing series

[jazzboCR]

Cowboy Junkies and Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band Both were real outfits with AMG listings and everything. The have one strong thing in common: Deanna Bogart was part of both. Each big fun in very different ways.

Cowboy Junkies I defer to AMG for info: http://www.allmusic.com/album/thats-what...0000312034 << not together all that long...damn shame, they sure had a concept down cold...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wco-GOxsNWk << well she wasn't "The Only Girl in the Band" here

Root Boy Slim Now this is special (in all it's modern meanings). Can't fault the concept but his voice...takes some getting used to. Again I rely on AMG: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/root-boy-...0000340542 << "...obvious and contrived..." is an understatement. A love'm/hate'm outfit on a large scale.:
If you are weak of heart or stomach, listen to the intro remarks outside the club on the 1st tune and then depart.:
