ICEHOUSE "primitive man" vinyl, 1982
career stats:
studio albums.........9
singles..................39
this album: #3 AU, #1 NZ, #64 UK, #129 US
singles:
"great southern land".................#5 AU......#10 NZ...#83 UK
"hey,little girl"...........................#7 AU......#9 NZ.....#19 UK
"street cafe".............................#57 AU....#40 NZ....#62 UK
"uniform"..............................................................#83 UK
second album from this Aussie synth-pop group...
first one was under the name Flowers, but someone in Europe already had that name so they needed to change it when they got Euro releases
i have two of theirs on vinyl, this one and one from around 78ish(man of colours)...
their songs are reasonably catchy for the most part and certainly more intelligent than most of the early 1980s synth-pop crap...
in some places, vocalist Iva Davies' has a distinct Bowie vocal quality, not surprising considering he was one of Davies' biggest influences growing up
all up, not a bad album but only the one i love pushes it across the line....i guess it is what it is and was what it was for that music period
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
