What's been talked about here is odd but understandable; this next one is just flat weird: Finland's love of the Tango. A festival that draws 100,000 from a nation of only 5 Million, and the love dates from 1913: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_tango A quick look, then 3 composers' works--amazing stuff:

Olavi Virta 15 tracks by this master https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE5Srkzx...ArBx-1c3hp
Toivo Karki "The Father of Finnish Tango https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1rc7JfRcZc and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL9EgDM6g3w and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63ZoPqp1K7s
Unto Mononen 12 tracks by another master composer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-O2L_Zj...djMVSX-0MY
As the wiki explains, the Finns have adapted the form but didn't subvert it as, for example, this gent has: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astor_Piazzolla His music was the soundtrack for this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114746/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 A tune or two by him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUAPf_ccobc and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgha2OTkyFE << if you want to go really deep with Sr. Piazzola, YouTube has full albums and a "Top Tracks" thingie that goes 72 pieces.
The finns have also adapted the dancing, making it softer and more graceful, not hard-edged pseudo-violent like the Argentines.
