That one's not tough to understand, given the Japanese love of and consumption of the A&A Twins (amphetamines and alcohol). A real head-scratcher is the Nipponese adoration of reggae--totally mad for the stuff, to the point that a list of home-grown bands would fill a page. So much talent they don't bother to import Jaimoe talent much anymore for their huge festivals. Here's a good read on the subject: http://www.nippop.com/features/Rastaman_...Reggae%3F/
Wouldn't be MD w/o some music:
Rankin' Taxi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhLPg9EMU8I << Oh yes!
Dry & Heavy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMaUwYk-TXo << kinda weird--Japanese in a Jamaican accent...
* Little Tempo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4k9StDvJz0 << Lover's reggae...and it works so well
Mute Beat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4k9StDvJz0 << As the name implies, they are an instrumental-only band
Nahki http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkPBUOiwdXc << this guy must be a total hoot to see up close and personal--not a bad job on Doo-wop either (not so odd when you consider where earlier Jamaican songs came from)
* special merit with this song--if more bands heard it, more would add to their repertoire--great bones.
