John Grisham - Sycamore Row - 2013

Not bad for pop fiction. Read this because the wife did. She liked it and so do I. Lawyer story (imagine that) set in Mississippi in the 1980's. Rich guy hangs himself and writes his revised will the day before, cutting out his kids. He leaves most of his 24 million to his black housekeeper who he has known for 3 years. No fair the kids say and contest it. The court battle is on. A little bit of a mystery involved as to why the man did this. Turns out the housekeepers grandfather was hung some years back by the father of the rich dude. And the rich dude hung himself on the same exact tree that the grandfather was strung up on. And it was on this strip of land called Sycamore Row. There, now you don't have to read it.
