THE CLASH "the story of the clash volume I" double cd, 1988

double compilation set containing twenty-eight tracks...
ive posted before that their final album "cut the crap" lives up to the title in that it is a big piece of crap...and not surprisingly, there are no tracks from that album on this one,not even the singles!...
this contains all their UK singles,including the several non-album singles they recorded,plus a few album tracks also...
i find the title "volume 1" slightly misleading and on two levels, firstly...there is no volume 2 out there and secondly, there are no tracks from their final studio album(when the title suggests it is "the story of the clash"...
its just a shame these tracks are not in chronological release order here so we can here how these guys progessed over the decade they were around, but i guess you can program the tracks on your cd player nowadays if you choose to...
all up,allbeit with a couple of hiccups, this is a very good career spanning compilation of these guys...it shows their lunk side, their rockabilly,pop,dance,reggae sides along with their experimental journeys into dub,soundbytes,samples etc long beofre it became a commonplace to use them in popular music...Damn you Clash!, you have a lot to answer for!
