The late lamented Warren Zevon is worth your time. He combined rockin' his cheeks off with very literate, hard-bitten flowing lyrics. Here's a 1 hr concert film of him (broken out by song--feel free to skip around) in '82 when he was on his game and playing in the best of settings--Northern New Jersey--reasonable sound, muddy film. BTW, this show Night Music with David Sanborn ran for 3 years in the late-'80's--all the episodes got something goin' on (the modern equivalents include Darryl Hall's fine show q.v.). I didn't look but am sure all episodes are freely available. Happy hunting.
