Of course pets get named/renamed--they are animate beings who share our lives (even fish). But how about the inanimate? I just got a resin statue of a rugged cowboy who's had his days on the trail--his name is Monty--for Montana. And the bass player statuette in the kitchen is Charles--a younger, more joyful appearing Charles Mingus. Cars and other motor vehicles are appliances--do you name your stove?
