AXIOM "axiom archive 1969-1971" 1988
short lived
Aussie rock band from 69-71...
Glenn Shorrock(later of Little River Band) was principle singer of this band, along with a couple of others who followed him to LRB...
music here is typical of that period, i hear bits of Stephen Stills, latter day Manfred Mann,Steve Marriot's work from the same period and even touches of The Band...
these guys werent simply copy-cats,thats just the sounds that were around then...
this cd is pretty much an "essentials" collection, featuring the band's "a" and "b" sides of singles, plus essential album tracks...
lots of lovely harmonies and melodies happening here, that they honed and perfected in the mid 1970s with LRB...
ive got two tracks here that i want to call 'best track'...firstly, the anti-war(and in particular) anti Vietnam war song "arkansas grass", which they made the lyrics about the US Civil War in order not to get criticised for being anti-Nam, and secondly, the beautiful ballad "a little ray of sunshine"...
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
