I'm listening to an old mate of mine from Melbourne, Carl Pannuzzo - one of the best motherfucking singers I ever heard.
Shirley and I first caught Carl playing drums and singing with his band, Checkerboard Lounge (now Checkerboard) at the Great Britain Hotel in Richmond on our first visit to Melbourne back in November 1989 and went back to hear them playing whenever we could if we were there.
Carl was also part of my band, The Blue Mountains Blues Whalers when we did a Melbourne Cup Night gig at the Limerick Arms Hotel in Melbourne in 1991 with an expanded line-up that included himself and a young lady whom I cannot recall the name of anymore.
