For my 2 cents worth....
I think the site design is professional looking, clean, and you certainly don't think it is a amateur site.
With my background of web design and search engine optimization, a more descriptive header would be useful for the purpose of attracting newcomers. To clarify, if a user searches something in google and finds a link to any page of the site, there is a chance they may not stay and view. The reason, is most people will only stay on a new site if they understand what they are looking at in the first few seconds (if they don't, they are likely to click on the 'back' button on internet explorer. We have all done it). We have to assume people won't click on the 'about us' link, so providing an understanding to what the web-site is about is important.
I would say, that the site is not clear enough that it is an online magazine. Unless you take the time to look at the web address, or browse into other pages.
A clear, (to the point) header, or slogan like 'Love Indie? Then read the free online magazine' in my eyes would be the resolution. I think that is what Iota is suggesting? maybe wrong.
