I think he means that the band appeals to a mass audience, the music is straight ahead punky rock with memorable singalong melodies !
I can't dwell on metal, underground and avant garde too much because there is much more music whether it be pop, folk,country, jazz etc. to explore!
It all comes down to personal taste and I don't care what genre the music comes from! If I dig it I dig it!
