A slight decline from the previous Blood On The Tracks for me, but still a love album. Bob's seventeenth
album featuring the Rolling Thunder Revue lineup and backing vocals by Ronee Blakely and Emmylou Harris.
Most songs co-written with Jaques Levy who I never heard of again. Leads off with Bob's controversial
defense of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter who was convicted of a murder that occurred during a robbery in 1967.
Serving almost 20 years of his life conviction he was released on an appeal in 1985. Bob also drew heat
over the song Joey, which was seen as glorifying the life of gangster Joey Gallo. Both of those are love
tracks but my favorite is Sara, which just seems so personal it hurts. Written about his then wife who
would file for divorce about a year after this album was released. The album went straight to #1 in the US
and Australia, and #3 in the UK. Hurricane, in an abbreviated version was released as a single along with
Mozambique, which is my least favorite track. As usual, the lack of youtube clips is mystifying.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
