NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS "kicking against the pricks" cd,1986.
Nick and his Bad Seeds fourth allbum...
ever heard him do his take on Gene Pitney,Glenn Campbell,Cash,Seekers,John Lee Hooker,Ram Jam,Big 'O', Jimmy Webb etc etc?...well, here's your chance...
yes, Cave has done a covers album and this one is it!, only difference is that Cave re-works the tracks into his own distinct desolate, desperate, dark style.
incidently, this was the album that broke Cave in the UK....his version of Johnny cash's "the singer" from this one made it all the way to #1 on the "indi, alt" singles chart back in the day.
several tracks dont work for me here, while others are IMO equal to or better than the originals...good to see a covers set that isnt a carbon copy of the originals, so full marks to Cave for simply being "nick cave"....
