#483 - Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit - 1967
running recap for me - 3's=11, 2's=5, 1's=2
this one - ***
from the album: Surrealistic Pillow
Written by Grace Slick
Produced by Rick Jarrard
Chart action: #8 US, #94 UK
the players:
Grace Slick – vocals
Paul Kantner – guitars, vocals
Jorma Kaukonen – guitars, vocals
Marty Balin – vocals, guitars
Jack Casady – bass
Spencer Dryden – drums
Now we're smokin'. This could be the only song this band ever made and they would still be a legend to me. Feed your
head indeed, such memories. Surprised this even got airplay back then. Grace was still with The Great Society when
she wrote this. Not hard to tell what it's about and even the group was surprised that the song got by radio
censors. From the Airplane's second album and a classic it is.

Lyrics
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call to
Call Alice
When she was just small
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving
low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the doormouse said;
"Feed YOUR HEAD...
Feed your head"
