Proving once again my theory is true, anyones biography can be good if told by a good writer. Vaguely had a remembrance of this guys name. NY Times editorial writer with his heyday there in the 70's. Has written numerous books including two autobiographies. Also hosted PBS's Masterpiece Theater from 1992-2004, which is probably where I heard of him. This first biography only covers up to when Russell got married, thus the title I guess. It won him a Pulitzer Prize on publication, and the success prompted a sequel in 1989. Very well written, with lots of humor about his childhood days.
Grade - B
