BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "the river" cd,1980.
'brilliant' is the only word that sums up this one IMO...
Bruce at his best IMO,well, along with 'nebraska' and 'wrecking ball' anyway...
some great story telling on this double set, one of only a handful of double albums that i can say is fantastic...
a complete range of emotions here from joy, hope, sadness etc...
a complete range of styles also, from good old fashioned rockers(sherry baby),through great character songs(the river, independence day), ballads, pop(hungry heart) through to great songs with simplistic lyrics(cadillac ranch)...the list just goes on and on...
the only problem i have with the album is that it ends!, just wish it would go on and never end.
this album is also one of only two that i give a perfect score of 3.0 to(the other is Neil Young's "tonight's the night")...total class from go to woe, rock and roll perfection!
