Product Description
Steve Dark is in retirement. Two years ago, as a member of elite crime squad Special Circs, he came close to putting an end to a psychopath's killing spree. But not close enough.
In revenge, the killer destroyed Dark's family. Dark quit, vowing that he'd never go back. He'd seen enough carnage and death.
But now the killer's back. The same psychopath who has shot, raped, maimed, poisoned, burned, strangled and tortured 50 people - the man who took away Dark's family. And Special Circs are convinced that only Dark can stop him.
Is Dark prepared to risk everything - his new life - to once more hunt a monster?

my view of the novel:
now, i dont really read too many books nowadays, but i picked up this one in the discount bin at Big-W a couple of weeks ago, been reading a bit every night, well until i fell asleep anyway!
i didnt want to put this book down...its a great novel from go to woe with not a single dull page in it.
at the end of some of the chapters there are links to the "level 26" website including codewords to view little snippets of something related to the chapter, which gives a real interactive feel to the story..only did it twice as it does get awkward stopping reading, then logging in and viewing sonething, then returning to the novel again...i guess this could be the way of the future in novels??
IMO this book is up there with the Hannibal Lector series, for both intensity, suspense and twists and unexpected turns,
this book should IMO get made into a movie, would love to see Anthony Hopkins in the lead role of Squweegel the serial killer, but feel he may be a touch old for agility and mobility!!!
i give this book a rating of 4/5 ***
NB: the "level26" comes into it becuase in real life serial killers have been rated by the FBI Psychiatrists on a scale of 1-24 according to their specific crimes, well, in this book the killer is above and beyond any known serial killer, thus he is a level26 in a league all of his own, so you can imagine the techniques and sadistic nature of his spree!
not sure of where real life killers are on the level scale, i guess you can google it if you want to know!
