As far as The Beatles are concerned with respect to "pop" music the POP means POPular with the majority of music listeners !!!!!

all you have to do is find out who influenced the artists you like and the answer in almost always....The Beatles

and if the artists you like werent directly influenced by the Beatles, then those bands that influenced the bands you like were almost certainly influenced by....The Beatles.

the beatles released something like 13 albums in 7 years, written and recorded some 200 original tracks over that period also....and most of them were good to brilliant....how many other artists can claim a track record like that.

their songs have been recorded by 1000's of artists over the last 5 decades....how many other writers can say they have achieved that? NONE!

all-in-all The Beatles are/were the greatest band in musical history......
