Soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder's movie, released in 1969.
One of the newly released 2011 remasters.
The bands' first venture into soundtracks - they'd make one more for the same director in another three years - and whilst this is largely a collection of songs, there's some soundtracky music as well.
The music is something of a crossroads for the band: there's a bit of whimsical stuff a la Syd, there's a bit of their Psychedelic jamming, plus some early signposts for the more Folky direction they'd explore during their next couple of albums. A couple of songs Rock like few in the Floyd repertoire, The Nile Song, and Ibiza Bar.
Not a pivotal Floyd release, but there's still some quality music here.
AllMusic 2/5 stars (Unnecessarily harsh IMV).
