Music Head Wrote:When I think underrated, I think chart success. Speaking for the U.S. Nick has never had that. The album posted (Murder Ballads) never even touched the Billboard 200. Out of 14 albums with the Bad Seeds, 9 of them have never made that chart. The highest charting was the last one, Dig Lazarus Dig, which made a showing at #64 here. I'm sure Nick has done much better in his homeland and even the U.K., and he is well respected by those in the industry, but as far as chart success in the states, Nick Cave is very underrated.
you beat me to the answer MH...was gonna say the same thing, Nick Cave has never really achieved more than a cult following here in Australia, has had a couple of big sellers but for the most part his albums generally sell well upon the week of release then drop from the charts fairly quickly, but they do sell in dribs and drabs on a cinsistant basis,,,much like Elvis Costello and Neil Young to name a couple of others.....
that said he is a hugely popular live act here when he returns to these shores to tour( he has lived in the UK for best part of 30 yrs now)
