I'd recommend Mudvayne. There have very strong melodies within what initially sounds like an aggressive assault. The album 'Lost and Found' is their most melodic so probably best to try that first.....the singles 'Happy' and 'Forget To Remember' are good places to start. These guys are incredible musician's....check out some of the funky bass lines
For me, I tend not to play a lot of out and out metal through the whole album, but with Mudvayne I'm disappointed when the album finishes
And secondly, I'd say check out one of my favourite ever songs 'The Diary of Jane' by Breaking Benjamin. Powerful and punchy but amazing melodies, agression, great chorus, great everything....
