I have to agree on one front If you die young then you don't have the chance to tarnish your image ............
However perhaps this thread can be turned around.................those who do not die young in rock music and choose to go one having a long career might qualify for this thread
The Biggest music non-death.
I think it is much easier to burn bright and fast as star and send out a lot of light quickly so to speak BUT
If you manage to get to a high point and and go on for most of your natural life, then perhaps you have got to be congratulated and looked up to.
So what would he 70 year old Elvis be doing now ...........?
Oh yeah! Jim Morrison on cheap chat shows.............
The Jimi Hendrix; play sixties hits on the guitar volume 25...............
Sometimes its a great career move death..............it covers the weak points so well!

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
