Neil Young 2000 onwards

[CRAZY-HORSE]

NEIL YOUNG "chrome dreams II" 2007. #11 US, #14 UK, #37 Aust.

here, we have the third truly great Neil young album in a row since around 1977ish.
you may be wondering why its called "chrome dreams II" when there isnt a "chrome dreams" album, well the original "Chrome Dreams" was shelved by Young in the late 1970s and he occasionally pick tracks off it for various albums over the following decades, also he always liked the title and finally got round to using it here.
what makes this album greater than most is not only the variation of styles from ballads, folk, gospel tinged tracks,CH style rockers and lengthy guitar driven tracks, but the fact that every one of them sounds fresh and new, not simply rehashing old tunes and themes, at eighteen minutes long "ordinary people" is a Young rock symphony with plenty of guitar solos and well thought out verses.
again, not a dud track in view and almost a perfect Young album showing at his age that he can be still relevant and a force in the 'noughties'.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM
