I think the secret to how we have consumed so much music in our time lies within who we are and what we do.
Being in Middle age I have since the early days of my life been drawn to things that have allowed me to listen to music:
In my youth I was able to work in radio and have access to many records and the people who are involved in the musical choices for programing................Then I worked in nightclubs and have to find music that people wanted to hear.................
I went on to be involved in working in record libraries in my spare time and became a keen record collector..............
Later I worked with friends on records fairs and was able to see and hear many rare and obscure things.
I have had good friendships with professional musicians and have been able to asak about their influences ...............
I have a stepson who is into music and is a musician
I read the music press both on the web and on paper and watch what I can on the TV
So I guess that is the kind of profile that many of the regulars on MD have and how we come to have such a great exposure to music...............

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
