Satire, with the tobacco industry being the target. Written about the time that the heads of all the major tobacco companies were drug before congress to confess that their product was harmful to your health. They refused to confess, but it was high drama for congressional hearings. Hadn't been that entertained since the Iran/Contra hearings. This novel centers on a spokesman for the industry and his attempts to promote his product. Highlight is his abduction and being plastered with nicotine patches. The FBI believes he has staged the event for self promotion. That is not the case but he'll never convince them. The book is humorous in parts, but doen't make much of a story for me. If it was supposed to make me quit smoking and hate the tobacco industry, it didn't work. Thank you big tobacco for giving me years of pleasure.
