CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:thanks for the 'turnbridge wells' sleeve note which adds to what i wrote. i cant add everything in an overview or each one would be a page long and boring to most people...more so than what im doing, maybe?! LOL
Unfortunately, Weller is is his own worst enemy in a lot of respects...with his arrogance and contempt of others. so i think that that Dennis Munday and the other 'suits' at Polygram Records were getting fed up with his attitade and were looking for an excuse to dump him and a poor selling album 'confessions' and the one after this that they refused to release was their way out. and if Weller was causing problems by not attending scheduled meetings etc coupled with his attidtude then he dug his own grave metaphorically speaking. not sure if he has changed though because his solo material has been with three different labels on four occasions.
"go discs!"-allbeit a subsiduary of Polygram, when Polygram bought Go Discs! Weller left.
"island"-part of the Virgin group
"V2"-another part of Virgin Records....and back to "island/universal" again.
Haha, just like mines then! I've done a few overviews but find it difficult to dilute what I've got to say about a particular album or artist (which is usually a lot).
Yeah, Im fully aware that Paul Weller is of the arrogant/self absorbed species. Think this is pretty obvious when he is a best friend with a guy like Noel Gallagher! But he writes some great original music which is what I like about him.
