I am an amateur songwriter. I write lyrics and melodies, both are pleasant, not great, in my opinion. But I have the hardest time putting them together. Am I the only one with this problem?

As for the lyrics, which are the main focus of this discussion, I write about all kinds of things, usually just obscure philosophical things rather than specific instances...they range from cheerful to downright depressing. What they all seem to have in common, though, is that they're quite simple, but they get their point across.
I'm thinking of posting them here soon...after a bit of editing
