i saw an interview with Jeff Lynne recently and he was saying he would get a structure of five or six chords at the beginning of a recording session and he'd just juggle them around and create a dozen songs out of it(an entire album) then he would make up lyrics as he went along, hey presto!...an album complete!...none of this taking six months rubbish to write a song. now that is simplicity at its best.
he also said the only time he sat down and crafted an album was 1981 'time'(a concept album) which was the end of ELO.
