Really? I'm not doubting their prowess as a powerhouse in the 80s and 90s alternative music scene, but this is a Greatest Hits album and contains their most popular work not necessarily their best. Most importantly, it does contain material mainly from Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication and By The Way, only one of these records stated I would place in my top 3. Missing a lot of material from Mother's Milk in particular and the better works from Blood Sugar Sex Magik, I am disappointed at how the songs have been selected. Unfortunately, most of the tracks for the Greatest Hits compilation are works that were mostly singles (from memory) and not their better works. We all know of the most popular non-single in popular music - Stairway to Heaven and I see a particular similarity here. RHCP were also able to play some of the better covers including Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground and Hendrix's Fire with a huge funk-punk influence.

'higher ground' is on the RHCP 'best of' set. generally you could say that most artists best songs are the 'non singles' or 'album tracks'.
singles are generally there to promote the respective album they are from and not neccessarily representative of the album or the particular artist concerned.
im not criticising your comments at all regarding the chilli peppers and what may or may not be their best songs as i have no idea about their albums,all i know is their singles and i like those. i know where you are coming from, i was the same with Eminem's 'curtain call' best of set, for the average listener it is great but to the fan his album tracks are the 'real slim shady'
