I've got The Lost Boys and it's a good one. It's also an example of the use of pre-exisitng music in a film.
Sometimes there is friction between film composters and music editors on films. Studios have long known that a hit song can feed back into box office receipts. Now that many studios are part of companies which include record labels, they can also make money off soundtrack sales. So the incentive to include songs - whether original or pre-existing - can affect the artisitc decision making process.
