Memphis, Tennessee native gained his credentials performing with Wynton and Branford Marsalis. Time to strike out on his own with some jazzy/bluesy material. This is actually his third release, the first two being on Branford Marsalis's label, this one on E1. While primarily known as a jazz guitarist, his vocal skills take center stage here. The laid back style wore thin rather quickly for me. Good stuff but easily forgettable for me. The added vocals of Carrie Rodriguez and country flavor on It May Be A Dream made that my favorite. All the other clips are acoustic and include a brief intro with Doug telling what the song is about. Very interesting. Although the album is not acoustic, this is all that was available.
