At their best with this fourth album. Formed in 1968 in Michigan by Mark Farner, Don Brewer of Terry Knight and The Pack and Mel Schacher of ? and The Mysterians. They would later add Craig Frost on keyboards, and their sound became more commercial and which is where their decline began imo. Terry Knight would quit performing to become their manager and produced this album. They disbanded in 1976 and Farner pursued a career in christian music while Schacher and Frost joined Bob Segers Silver Bullet Band. The group was panned by the critics but a loyal fan following helped build their sucess which put this album at #6 on the U.S. charts with singles of the only 2 non-originals, Dave Mason's Feelin' Alright and the Stones Gimme Shelter. My two least favorite and both failed as hits.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
Worst Track - Gimme Shelter
Best Track - I Can Feel Him In The Morning
Take me down to the water, let me feel it run over me.
Let me feel the pain and the coldness, the loneliness that there must be.
Whoa, can't you see their dreams, as they go drifting by?
Whoa, can't you see their faces, and their tear-soaked eyes?
I can feel him in the morning, I can feel him in the evening too.
I can hear him in the morning, tellin' me what I got to do.
Got to make a new world, ought to make the old one right.
I can see him in the morning, I can see him in the stars at night.
Take me out to the battlefield, let me hear the shells flying by.
Let me hear the sound of the cannons, let me hear them scream and cry.
Whoa, can't you hear their dreams, as they tumble to the blood-soaked ground?
Whoa, hear them scream for shelter, from the world they never found.
I can feel him in the morning, I can feel him in the evening too.
I can hear him in the morning, tellin' me what I got to do.
Got to make a new world, ought to make the old one right.
I can see him in the morning, I can see him in the stars at night.
