Music Head Wrote:Extreme metal is only the current phase of anti parents/society in your face music. Every generation experiences it. Starting with swing, then rock, then punk, then rap, bringing us to where we are now, extreme metal. Were I to be a teenager now, who knows, I may be there. Just wish I could live to see the day when we go full circle and classical will be the rebellious form. The parents of that day will be muttering, "What the hell is that crap?
Very good point! I hope I see this happen too!
I've been exactly into what you say you "could" have been. When I was in my teenage years, my cousin was older than me and was listening to death, black or any kind of extreme metal. So I ended up listening to that too. I remember our parents qualifying this music as "cadaver's grunts". Today, I still like some albums of this genre, but my musical world changed a lot since.
It's funny that Slayer is mentioned in the following post, because the very first album I bough in my life was Slayer - Reign in Blood on cassette. I ended loving this band so much, it was my very first musical love.
