My latest listening is a CDR ( CD acetate ) given to me by the artist.......it contains work from his earliest acetate recordings .....through his series of sixties singles as various forms of the Secrets .........onto his calibration with the Birmingham based band Bronco and on to some alternate versions and out takes of some of his more prominent solo works...............Clifford is one of the great song writers of the sixties/ seventies and yet he is known only to a few. At times his approach and fear of live performance made him his own worst enemy......sadly just after his most successful period, Clifford fell fowl of poor record deals not great contracts and loss of control of the ownership of his music......in addition to this he was diagnosed with MS.... through all this he struggled on making his own quintessentially English music........He died, near penniless and unknown in 2002 . However, his music and memory is kept alive by a faithful few who dream that one day he will gain the recognition he truly deserves

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
