SILVERCHAIR "neon ballroom" cd, 1999
a revisit
their third of five studio albums
to go from mere Grunge wannabes on their debut to craftsmen of solid alt rock material in two albums is fantastic
eighteen years of age during the time they recorded this showed their potential was still expanding with a collection of deeply personal songs.
not comparing them to Beatles directly (and who would) but listening to this and their debut is like the differences between "please please me" and "rubber soul", theyre a million miles aprt in songwriting.
a solid collection of alt-rock on here, i cant remember if the follow up to this, Diorama, is my faovurite of this one but either way this album rates 2.4 which means....
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
fave is a personal song about lead vocalist Daniel Johns battle with anorexia nervosa:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
