NEW ENTRIES:
97. Single Again – Josh Ross (6.5/10)
Released in January of 2024, "Single Again" is a Canadian country song, and y'know? It may sound slightly too much for North American country radio, but it still has this side where the instrumentals and sound feel a little more real than a corporate company looking for a hit. Based off the journey of being single, Josh wrote the single after finding out a girl in a bar had a boyfriend. It honestly seems like a very typical topic for country music, but the chord progression in the guitar makes up for the negative sides. This is pretty decent, not something that's for my fancy though.
93. Sparks – Coldplay (8/10)
From their 2000 album "Parachutes", "Sparks" charted after Chris Martin had a breakup (there's no way we are seriously making a return for this.) But it's still a good song. The guitar chords have this nostalgic feel, and the slowness eases you into the song's emotion of begging for another chance after doing wrong to your partner. The song is enjoyable but also sad.
89. Holy Blindfold – Chris Brown (7/10)
Probably wasn't the best time to drop music, but still. This song is simple; it's Chris Brown, and I haven't heard much of him, but from the stuff I've heard from him, this doesn't impress me much more.
Added (AKA second listen):
The song follows the pattern of Brown's slow, R&B music, with the tuning fitting right. And honestly my score is going up! +0.5
78. Half The Plot – Lil Tecca (7/10)
This is my favourite song so far that's entered the Hot 100 from the newly released "Dopamine" album by Lil Tecca, and as much as this isn't the peak of trap music, it's still a pretty fun radio-trap mix that doesn't serve an important definition but instead is just meant for the club. Cool song.
76. Folded – Kehlani (7/10)
Surely this had to be inspired by Tyla; in fact, if you like Tyla, then this'll be right up your alley. It has a slow and easy pitch that feels right.
70. Won't Stop – Gunna (7/10)
Previous listen:
Gonna adds his previous collaborator Turbo on the team in "Won't Stop", where he goes against criticism and says he'll continue; it's definitely a lot clearer than his last stuff.
Added (AKA second listen):
Gunna isn't going through any groundbreaking routes, but I'll still mark this as good. It's his usual; if you know Gunna, then this wouldn't be too unexpected to his roots.
69. Lemon Drop – ATEEZ (5/10)
From their new EP, "Lemon Drop" is a blend of pop and rap to make a song that sounds trendy for the current season and something that'll hype up the fans of typical K-pop. Skip it.
40. Killin' It Girl – J-hope/Glorilla (7/10)
The funky clicks and patterns that sound like glasses clinking went together really well, and Glorilla matched the fun and more intense energy by giving an equally good part.
RE-ENTRIES:
96. Better Me For You (Brown Eyes) – Max McNown
[Nobody cares.]
88. Twilight Zone – Ariana Grande
[Yeah, I don't mind this returning.]
