ERIC CLAPTON "crossroads" cd 1988
a four cd set covering the first 20 years of his career from Yardbirds thru his 1980s solo career
to be honest i wasnt really enthralled with the blues covers by Yardbirds
i wasnt even impressed with the Bluesbreakers songs either
i did start enjoying it with the material by Cream, Blind Faith and Derek & The Dominos
where i was most impressed was with his solo material, but then again i am quite familiar with a lot of that already
all up there are 75 tracks spanning the four disks, some live but mostly studio versions
i love the way it is presented chronologically which gives the listener an idea of not only the path he had taken musically over the decades but also the way his guitar playing developed into the signature sound know and all love.
i think this overall this set would rank a 2.3 which is a borderline "love" score and very good for such a huge compilation
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
its so hard to pick one track to stand out amongst all others but on this occasion i picked this fabulous instrumental:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
