NEW ENTRIES:
99. Ribs – Lorde (8.5/10)
I actually heard this for the first time a few weeks ago, before it hit the charts. Part of her debut album 'Pure Heroine', 'Ribs' is considered her best song by many, and as much as it's good, with the message about getting older displayed in a deep ambient, alt/art pop way with Lorde providing a voice that lures you deeper into the fascinating, slow-moving production, it's still not her best song, at least to me. I was actually planning on reviewing 'Pure Heroine' on AOTY much before this charted, which is what makes this even more of a coincidence!
97. 3,2,1 - Tucker Wetmore (6.2/10)
There are rare cases when I enjoy a country song that sounds like any other on American radio; this is one of them. It's actually giving me those chill Western vibes.
79. My World – Chuckyy (3/10)
The intro to this song felt slightly out of this world, as if you were about to float, like a build-up to something amazing… and then Chuckyy's vocals came in and are easily some of the worst vocals you'll hear in a while; the beat lowers, and then Chuckyy's raspy and emotionless voice (as emotionless as a robot) gave the plainest and most boring performance for minutes straight until the song ends… what a joke.
77. Amen – Shaboozey/Jelly Roll (8/10)
Rare Jelly Roll is a good song! I mean, Shaboozey most likely made this happen, but to see an actual improvement from Jelly Roll is nice. The guitar and claps, along with the hold on "Amen", create a good flow and a good hook, catchy country.
63. After All The Bars Are Closed – Thomas Rhett (4/10)
Thomas Rhett continues to pump out his same uninspired country music that uses the same formula as most of the low-charting HOT 100 country songs; can he do anything else? Probably not.
47. Damocles – Sleep Token (3/10)
Really tedious with poor vocals, a simple rock pattern and some piano. Sad that this will probably get traction.
40. Mystical Magical - Benson Boone (7/10)
A step up from 'Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else', this has a melody resembling 'Physical', which is shown more in the chorus. Benson gives a tune which makes you want to dance, but in an elegant way; it's Benson's usual, but it feels like it has more class to it.
39. Money On Money – Young Thug/Future (7.8/10)
I must admit that I've gotten bored of Future, as many think so too. But this was a big improvement; the song had a more energised feeling with some beat bars that reminded me of the 'Fein' intro but lower in pitch.
36. What Was That – Lorde (4.8/10)
I've always found her voice partly annoying, but I think it shows a lot more on this.
Alt-pop, which showcases that Lorde's album may not be as good as we think.
