NEW MUSIC FRIDAY REVIEW AND SUMMARY 24.01.25 #16

Fat, Juicy & Wet - Sexyy Red/Bruno Mars (4/10)

This is the weirdest collab I've ever seen in my life, and I'm left speechless by it. I did not expect to see Bruno talking about how he likes his women. Fat, juicy, and wet, what even is this?! I'm convinced that this has ruined Bruno's song collection; this really sounds like rap cr*p, though, and anyone who says it's good is most likely glazing it for having Bruno on it. I'll be shocked if this has long-term charting potential. And also EWWWWW, THE LYRICS ARE GROSS!! I can't believe Bruno reached out to do this ? if this really is on his next album, then it'll ruin it; it's like they tried to recreate 'WAP' with the harder trap kick in there to fire up the song and the claps between the vocals. I can also hear a hint of old-school production with short segments having a 2000s-like melody playing.

Striptease - FKA Twigs (8/10)
An experimental masterpiece, combining drum and bass and glitch electronic to give us a heavenly song, it gives a surreal surrounding vibe and the components are wonderful! One sounds like a heartbeat measurement, and the beep throughout the hook is just the crème de la crème!

CRG - Central Cee/Dave (4/10)

The two male rappers talk about the journey to success; I'm sure the next part will be about their downfall. What makes me laugh is that Cench is here talking about not rushing greatness when he's released three mediocre singles before his upcoming album that highly bore you of what's to come. This rap feels like Central and Dave's 2023 collaborations but somehow even more boring; there's no chemistry between these two; it just sounds like they got a simple loop that barely adds any substance. Not only is this nothing new and a complete waste of time, but it's also a terrible promotion to entice someone to listen to the full album.

Sports Car - Tate McRae (9/10)

Tate McRae was mad not to make this the main single!! OH MY WORD, I AM IN SHOCK!! THIS IS EXCELLENT! The mysterious yet intense quality of the song just layered perfectly, and Tate's vocal performance was out of this world! We haven't seen anything like this from Mcrae, and 'Sports Car' is a huge win!

Guilty - Teddy Swims (6.5/10)

As much as this is good, I feel it doesn't hit like the main singles on I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1); in comparison, it feels like a whole new era and doesn't incorporate its mainstream pop side well. It's a huge miss for fans of the original (like me); instead, it works more on the instrumental side and focuses harder on the deeper elements.

Limitless - Central Cee (7.5/10)
A down-to-earth rap is just what we needed from Cench; keeping it real and putting down the tough gangsta attitude for a mental health song is lovely, and he kept his style throughout! Respect!

Basic Being Basic - DJO (4/10)

What a fall off; I actually liked Djo's past stuff! This sounds like he's taking a completely new route, which I don't approve of. He has kept his stylish beats, which I'm glad about, but this still feels like a mess; the neo-psychedelic patterns just weird me out and simply don't work; they're not catchy.

Mi Vidi Mi Muerte - Neton Vega (6/10)

A respectfully well-made production that's simple yet sweet, this is one of Neton's best that I've heard but still fails to add his own signature sound that separates him from anyone else.

Arm's Length - Sam Fender (8/10)

A great song from a set to be a great upcoming album! This sounds like so much care went into the indie song, and it showcases a much more laid-back side compared to 'People Watching.'

Childlike Things - FKA Twigs/North West (7/10)

'Childlike Things' is a pushed single off FKA's album 'Eusexia,' which features Christian praise lyrics from 11-year-old North West, and this is the first good thing from North! It's not something you would expect someone that age to understand, yet the single sounds complicated but artistic.

4 × 4 - Travis Scott (4/10)

Below standard, just like every other Travis song I've heard.

Rio - J. Balvin (5/10)

Such a stereotypical music choice ?

Haunted - Kane Brown/Jelly Roll (7/10)

It's a rare sighting for me to rate these two artists this high, but this is an exception. The vocals were a powerhouse, and so were the lyrical values, covering depression and suicide. Amazing song from the two, and I hope to see more like this!

Chasing Paradise - Kygo/Onerepublic (5/10)

I honestly was expecting a rating of 3/10, so the fact that this isn't as terrible as I thought it would be is cool; it's still too generic pop on the radio, though. Kygo really needs to try and turn to a new direction before he ends up being the next Marshmello.

Holy Ground- BigXthaPlug/Jessie Murph (6/10)

Jessie is my arch nemesis; no musician in the world has vocals as stinky as hers. She sounds like a cat dying, and without her this song would've been much better, but BigX still saved it with his bold, fierce vocals that dominated the track. BigX is really a rapper to look out for! He's great!

Pop It Off - Tyga/Lil Wayne (5.5/10)

At least it's new from a lot of regularly pumped-out rap, still bang average sadly.

Dear Me - Kesha (6/10)

I would've liked to see more here; this feels like any other movie. Piano performance, for what it is, is quality, though, so I'll give Kesha a 6.

Tears On My Piano - Joel Corry (2.5/10)

Since this was trending, I thought it would actually sound unique, but no, it's Joel's pumped-out 5-minute rubbish as usual, extremely forgettable.

Pray - Lauren Spencer Smith (6.5/10)

I never knew Lauren was Christian; this was actually really good, though; it reminds me of gospel choirs but better. I really recommend checking Spencer out! Everything she does is just so magnificent.

Feliz Año nuevo - Armenta/Manuel Turizo (5/10)

Just your average Spanish billboard song.

True Religion - Shygirl/Isabella Lovestory/Pinkpantheress (3.5/10)

305 - Jordan Adetunji/Bryson Tiller (6/10)

Catchy.

Thought it was love - Ty Myers (7/10)

The romantic slow backbeat, which you can lightly hear Is the key moment on this for me? Unlike his first opening single, this is a better one from the new album. Maybe Ty can turn his old country ways around.

HIM - Dababy/Big Boogie (4/10)

Retirement will come before DaBaby gets another hit single.

PROTECT THE CROSS - JPEGMAFIA (2/10)

Every aspect of this is kerfuffled and so lost. The metal and rock don't bond well, and J's vocals feel forgetful and really don't match AT all. Horrible song.

BUTTERFLY EFFECT - Sienna Spiro (6.5/10)

Piano, real and raw emotional texture, and that's all you need to make a hit! Promoting a second single while her first single, 'MAYBE,' is gaining traction is also a smart idea since another popular track will really help you get out of one-hit wonderland.

Big Body - Hunxho/Lil Yachty (2/10)

Can't name one unique thing about this flaming pile of rap cr*p.

Who Laughs Last - Lord Huron/Kristen Stewart (4/10)

21st Century Cool Girl - Chloe Qisha (3/10)

Chappell Roan fits this song really well; anyways, it's still overused mediocre pop.

Ripple - Good Neighbours (7/10)

Man Made of Meat - Viagra Boys (5/10)

This actually sounds alright despite having the worst lyrics known to man.

444 - NLE Choppa (7/10)

Was not expecting NLE to drop a banger for once! This has serious flow to it and sounds like it's made to be trendy; a fast and hard-hitting umph is what Choppa gives, but this time he just mastered it. I'm serious when I say this has real potential.

Night Driving - Max Mcknown (5/10)
A predictable country song that doesn't stand out.

Shaking Things Up - Nimino (7/10)

Such an immersive track; not many people can make music like that!

Coco Chanel - Loe Shimmy/Trippie Redd (2/10)

Trippie can't make anything bearable! More rap crap!

Focus is power—self-esteem (6/10).

FIVIO FOREIGHN - Plaqueboymax (6/10)

Bad Choices - Larry June/2 Chainz and the Alchemist (6/10)

Conference - Ace Of Thorns (3/10)

Positives: the beat is amazing and can definitely be used.

Negatives: At the start, the vocals are faded and feel harder to hear throughout, and in parts the vocals sound like Ace can't hold their performance, and they trail off; it sounds weak, and that's unusual for Ace.

Bystander Affect - Ghais Guevara/E L U C I D/DJ Haram (2.5/10)

I don't care if you say, "This is experimental and underground's next big thing." This is awful; nothing sounds right. I can only compare it to some ritual chant-like sound. I don't know who's calling this art; in fact, I don't even know what this is, but it's not music.

Sanctuary - Tamino/Mitski (5/10)
