RINGO STARR "i wanna be santa claus" cd, 1999
his twelfth studio album
a recent acquisition after years of searching for it
never sold back in the day and was quickly deleted by the record label
managed to find a second hand copy on ebay a few weeks ago
album opens up quite unexpectedly with a track that sounds more in line with early 70s Glam Rock (not very Christmasy at all !!)
thankfully after that we get happy, jovial Ringo bouncing his way through the album as you would expect, well, except for one tune which was originally recorded by the Beatles in 1967 as part of their UK fanclub Christmas floppy-disc collection.
look, we all know Ringo is not a great singer but his voice does fare well on these tunes (and country music too for that matter)
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
