ANNE SOFIE von OTTER meets ELVIS COSTELLO "for the stars" cd, 2001
another Costello album i have never posted on MD...
his twenty-first studio album, her fourth...
Anne is a classically trained Mezzo-Soprano and it shows in the tones and control she has over her voice...
whilst the album has its charms i feel duped by calling it a Costello album...
i expected a duets album between the pair, however Costello only sings on six of the eighteen tracks...
he plays baritone guitar, bass and organ elsewhere and worked as co-producer and engineer on the tracks...
each play their part wonderfully but i would have preferred if Costello was credited as a "guest"...
this album would score a 1.7 if i were to mark is which means,
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
the title track is simply gorgeous: Elvis Costello and Anne Sofie Von Otter: For The Stars - YouTube
but my fave is this medley: "broken bicycles" was written by Tom Waits, "junk" by Paul McCartney
