KISS "unmasked" vinyl, cd, 1980.
their eighth.
didn't know where to put this one so I decided on 'soft rock'.
very commercial album, the sort of thing parents approved of back in the day.
their commercialism continued their slide in their homeland after the disco-esque "dynasty" album
but at the same time their fanbase increased everywhere else.
album tanked around #40 in the US but made top10 elsewhere.
the singles failed in the US but the lead off single "shandi" made top 10 in other countries.
fractures in the band also, drummer Peter Criss had been sacked a year earlier but still credited here.
Gene Simmons only played on half the tracks because he was pondering his next move also.
fill in drummer, Anton Fig, ended up being the drummer in the Letterman studio band, he's a class act IMO.
album reviews were mixed and when they toured the album they only performed one show in the US on the world tour.
personally, im a big fan of the album I love both Ace and Paul's songs, don't care for Gene's efforts
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
the radio friendly jingle-jangle single:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
