"the frontiersmen"
a four part series, each episode almost 2hrs, going through the expansion of the US back in the 1800's...
starts off with rebellion against the British, the push over the Apalachians by Daniel Boone, Davey Crockett's push further
with Jackson, Lewis and Clark, Jackson becoming President, the war with the British, Crockett moving West into the unrest
in Texas with the 'settlers' and the Mexicans, Kit Carson and the eventual independence of California and Texas from Mexico
and the eventual gold rush
a lot of focus on the "trail of tears" and "the indian wars" also
I tell you what, Kit Carson was one hell of a tough SOB mentally and physically...
to walk across "sea to shining sea" in several months as the first scout, then to get halfway back only to be ordered to turn around
and guide the cavalry back to California, then to turn around again and walk back to the East Coast and report the gold rush
