Even if they knew how to spell correctly, they would never admit it; that is so uncool, they would be the laughing stock of their peer group. Especially if they are trying to affect a gangster image.... sorry, "gangsta".
Slade, of course, were the original offenders in this regard. I don't think Slade were ever known to spell a word correctly.
