I find the modern ones I've seen to either lack plot or suspence, mostly they lack both of those elements IMO,
The last ok one I saw was "mama"
My favourite horror movies are/were:
Evil Dead
Wrong Turn
The Omen
Event Horizon (Sci fi horror)
Saw (the whole series was pretty good)
Wolf Creek( the original was based loosely on true events in Australia)
Nightmare on elm street (uniquely original)
Alien (if you count that as Sci fi horror??)
I liked the first and second Omen.
I liked the Conjuring movies because they are based on real events. Lorraine and Ed I like too
