I hate the word "genre" period!
sure. a lot of artists could be tied into a genre of music but what about the ones who aren't so easily placed?????
example....Neil Young,
most people would pigeon hole him as a folky...
but he's probably only made half a dozen albums that would qualify out of over fifty studio albums in his career
he's made jazz, blues, r+b/soul, pop, electronic, grunge, rock, alternative, country/folk, rockabilly.... so he is not a folky.
