What Are You Listening To?
Big Ears Wrote:I'm cheating slightly Wonderful, Wonderful Day.

No, not cheating at all--nothing's ever been said that stuff had to come from your holdings--not just recollections from your collections. As the tax folks say about income that's subject to taxation--"...from whatever source derived..." And here's that wonderful song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ-HCsmCoVI

Holds the title of best selling female artist of the 1950's and has sold 100 million over 6 decades. Signed her first contract in 1948 and peaked in the 50's. Her signature
song is the beautiful Tennessee Waltz. It spent 13 weeks at the top of the chart in 1950. It was adopted by the state as an official state song. Three other number 1's in
those early years. Then along came rock 'n' roll and Patti was for the history books. She had a few minor hits into the early 60's and continued recording and performing
into the early 2000's. She died in 2013 at the age of 85. All tracks on this compilation album hit the chart between 1948 and 1953, from #1 to a #24. It is a 2 volume set
that I only have Volume 1 of. Has to be one of those I meant to follow up on and just never did.

Fewer tracks on this one than the previous colection but it comes out better. Terrible packaging here though with only song titles and writers. No release year of the
songs or anything about her. Must have been a cheapie. My all time favortie of hers is included though which is probably why I bought it. From a film starring Bette Davis.

Remember when pop singers all had tags--"Her nibs, Miss Georgia Gibbs" and the like? Hers was "That singing rage, Miss Patty Page". Always did like her--good appreciation, MH.
BTW, she was singled out by Mao Zedong for "reactionary propaganda."
