KID ROCK "rock n roll jesus" cd,2007
career stats:
studio albums........9
singles.................39
this album: #1 US, #5 AU, #7 CAN, #1 UK
singles:
"rock n roll jesus"...................no chart action
"amen".................................no chart action
"all summer long"..................#23 US, # 1 AU, #1 UK, #12 CAN
"so hott"...............................no chart action
"blue jeans and a rosary"........no chart action
"roll on"...............................#67 Austria, #59 Germany
the Kid's seventh studio album....
lots of political statments happening here, probably because this was partially written after he went to Iraq to entertain the troops.
also, some breakup songs, again, probably due to his breakup from Pammy Anderson during the writing of the album...
lots of guitar driven songs on here including "all summer long" where he borrows from "sweet home alabama"'s riff and chorus...but hey, i'd normally consider this sort of stuff sacrilage, but in this case it works really very well.
several acoustic tracks and something that borders the country genre also...
i should really invest in some more Kid Rock albums other than the two i own
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Fashion Nugget is the second album by Cake, a quintet from Sacramento, California, It was released in 1996 at a time when I was in a music funk. A record store clerk recommended the album to me and it brought me out of my temporary music listening slump! The album is quirky in some places yet an enjoyable listen overall! The addition of trumpet brightens the album's overall effect. There are three covers done well...Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, a Cuban love song originally recorded by Desi Arnaz and popularised by Doris Day and Willie Nelson's Sad Songs and Waltzes. The trumpet on Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps is a welcomed touch!
There are 14 tracks on Fashion Nugget. Here are a few tracks from the album:

Just love this guys voice. Reminds me of Ray Thomas. And the music is scaled down Arcade Fireish. This is the bands first album to go Gold. They
still haven't hit it big yet, but it's there. I feel it. Score for this one is not that great, but it's on that mark where repeated plays would
do the trick. Hard to have a lot of plays when there's so much music around.

Big disappointment on this first time listen. Although it charted well, it did not sell as well as their previous 2 outings. Got them a Grammy
nomination for Best Alternative Album losing out to Vampire Weekend. Strange that with 5 singles released nothing charted in the only countries
that matter. Other than a few tracks it was just too slow for me, barely hitting the like score.

this album stats: #79 UK, #67 US

"save the changes"...........no chart action
"dance till we're high".......no chart action
the first two albums "rushes" and "strawberries...." were basically sonic/ambient/electronic sounds with the occasional remix of McCartney's back catalogue, lots of those stupid "revolution #9" sounds also...
but with this third album's collaborations between producer Youth and Paul McCartney we see real songs...
those songs are very much in the same vein and sound as say Ram's "smile away" and Beatles "why dont we do it in the road"...
Macca sings on all tracks and its not bad...to my way of thinking Macca is letting his hair down and experimenting with sounds he normally wouldnt use on a fully fledged solo album during that period...
unfortunately though, the last couple of tracks, even though there are vocals, tend to drift back to the sounds of the previously released Fireman albums...
its very average for a Macca album but at the same time its a far superior effort to the other Fireman albums....

Hard to equal the success of the previous album. Only Stand By Me stands out for me. One big complaint in that these songs are just too long. We
have 4 tracks over 7 minutes long and 5 others over 5 minutes. That's probably a good thing for most people. For me most of those are just drug
out through repetition, like a Hey Jude type of thing. Might have loved the 9 minute All Around The World if the last half hadn't been the same
thing for half of the track. That gets old when most of the songs do that. The album is the groups 3rd best selling. I got off of them after
this one. Five albums since and I don't know a thing off of them. Should I have followed up?

Ok....
This one would scrape through for me,but only just.
The following one,Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants, is their worst album, I can't stand it.
The remaining four after that one are okay...each has a couple of great songs but also two or three duds also.
Nothing comes close to Morning Glory IMO and I'm a fan.
Agree that the tracks are too long on Be Here Now, they aren't good enough musicians to carry off extended solo sections but make good 3minute songs.
You obviously weren't aware that Johnny Depp plays guitar on one of the tracks on Be Here Now...dont ask which one though,as I can't recall.

I have her first on vinyl then her next 4 on cd. Pretty sure this will come out the best. Was blown away with my fav track and couldn't believe
it was a Prince song. The girl sings with so much emotion, you can feel her pain. Title track was a throw away for me (gotta have some music).
This is her only platinum selling album and it went #1 everywhere.

The one you just posted is the only one of hers I own,in fact I think you recommended it to me a few years ago...
I really like it and am happy with it, I have no desire to purchase anything else though but I cannot think of a reason why I shouldn't though.
"nothing compares to you" is far superior to Prince's original version IMO.in fact I believe he thought it was one of those album filler tracks he disliked,he never played it live until O'Connor had a mega-hit with it
